Emotion is necessary where reason alone can't suffice. However, humans lend more weight to emotion than reason. e.g. [[Buridan's Ass]] fable: choosing between water or food in a desert, both equally far away from your position. Both are required for survival. Reason would lead to your eventual death, as you would be in paralysis about which option to choose. Emotion is required to add an element of randomness and, ultimately, ensure you survive. Beware situations where reason > emotion is required. e.g. Odysseus' journey home. Aware of overwhelming lure of sirens, so tied his men to the mast of his boat and filled their ears with wax (reason). --- Tags: #publish #decision References: https://trello.com/c/hVxlJ0hk [[Knowledgepct20Boardpct20fb35401621624d62ba6061e258e32608/photo.jpg]] [[ Knowledgepct20Boardpct20fb35401621624d62ba6061e258e32608/photopct201.jpg]] [[Billions]] [[Think in terms of two tracks]] [[If you want to persuade, appeal to interest not reason]] [[The Bicameral Mind]] [[Persuasion vs Convincing]] [[Selection and variation]] [[Buridan's Ass]]
